THE INPRO/SEAL MOTOR GROUNDING SEAL (MGS) IS A COMPLETE BEARING PROTECTION DEVICE FOR VFD CONTROLLED MOTORS. Electric motors that are controlled by variable frequency drives (VFD) may experience destructive, induced shaft currents that are discharged through the bearings, causing them to deteriorate and fail. These stray electrical currents can cause fusion craters, frosting, fluting and premature failure of the bearings. We have taken our patented VBXX bearing isolator and combined it with a shaft grounding feature to develop the Inpro/Seal MGS. The MGS is an innovative bearing isolator that diverts stray shaft currents away from the bearings while at the same time, permanently protects the bearings from environmental lubricant contamination. The Bearing Isolator and the shaft grounding feature are both maintenance-free and designed to last as long as the normal life of the motor. It was nominated as a Plant Engineering Product of the Year finalist for 2006.
